We are thrilled to welcome James Vasquez to our My Happy Yoga Place community. James is a RYT200 certified yoga teacher who brings a wealth of fitness experience and an inspiring perspective to his students at My Happy Yoga Place. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, James has dedicated his life to fitness and wellness, from bodybuilding and weightlifting to CrossFit, running, and a six-year personal journey with yoga. After moving to Southern Maryland two years ago, James has embraced yoga as not only a practice but also as a powerful tool for personal growth. “You need to get comfortable in the uncomfortable. That is where true growth happens,” he shares. This philosophy infuses his approach to yoga and life, encouraging students to explore their limits and expand their potential.

James’ teaching style is supportive, encouraging, and educational, aimed at helping both beginners and seasoned yogis build strength, awareness, and resilience. He creates sequences that challenge students to find comfort within their practice’s intensity while placing a strong focus on breathwork to cultivate balance and inner calm. As a lifelong fitness enthusiast, James understands the physical and mental barriers that beginners can face, especially when starting yoga. His goal is to break down these barriers and make yoga accessible to everyone—regardless of body type or background.
